Many men struggle with looking at other women. Many say they are not aware of this. Others will just pretend they like them and don’t want to disrespect the woman they’re with.
But looking at other women when you are with your wife or girlfriend is disrespectful and hurts your partner.
Before we go any further, let’s first make it clear that noticing an attractive person and lifting your neck to watch them move on are two different things. One is a normal reaction and the other is disrespectful, rude, and focused on your happiness. The world is full of beautiful and attractive people – women and men. It’s normal to see them and to feel appreciated. But what bothers most women is when that appreciation becomes unnecessarily or gratuitously obvious.
Here are some suggestions on how to begin to stop looking at other women.
1.) Realize that this is a habit you have formed, not an uncontrolled reflex.
2.) Start looking for ways to reinforce this habit, such as movies, TV shows, magazines, football games and let it sink in.
3.) Accept and get comfortable with the fact that it’s natural to notice attractive women. The goal here isn’t to eliminate noticing, but rather how often you look and for how long.
4.) Let your partner know that you understand and respect her feelings. You may have already said things like, “You’re overacting,” “It’s no big deal,” “I couldn’t help it”, or “It’s not like I’m leaving you for her.”
