GET TO KNOW THE APPEALS COURT JUDGES HEARING THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION PETITIONS (Photos)

The Presidential Elections Petitions has been a hot topic since the 2023 General elections, with the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Mr Peter Obi and People Democratic Party Candidate, Atiku Abubakar filing petitions against the election results that favored Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner.

As the case progresses, it is important to know more about the Appeals Court judges who will be hearing the case. This article introduces you to the five judges who are tasked with making a crucial decision that could impact the future of Nigeria. So with that being said take a look at the court of appeal judges profiles:

1. Haruna Simon Tsammani (Lead Justice)

– Born on November 23, 1959

-Obtained his LL.B degree from the Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Kaduna State, in 1982

– From the Tafawa Balewa Local Government area of Bauchi State.

2. Steven Adah

– Born on June 13, 1957

– From the Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State

– He is the presiding Justice of the Asaba Division of the Court of Appeal.

3. Misturat Bolaji-Yusuf

-Born on August 7, 1959

– From the Oyo West Local Government Area of Oyo State

– Obtained her LL.B degree from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, in 1983.

– Attended the Nigerian Law School the following year for her BL Certificate

– Was a Judge of the High Court of Oyo State for 17 years before her promotion to the Court of Appeal judge on March 24, 2014.

4. Boloukuoromo Moses Ugo

– Born on June 7, 1965

– From the Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State

– Obtained his LL.B degree from the University of Calabar in 1989

– Appointed a judge of the High Court of Bayelsa State on March 21, 2006

Appointed to Court of Appeal on March 24, 2014.

5. Abba Bello Mohammed

– Born on February 19, 1961

– Obtained his LL.B degree from the Institute of Administration, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State, in 1984

– Received his BL certificate at the Nigerian Law School in Lagos

– He is a Kano State native.

Each judge has a unique background and qualification that makes them suitable for this role. For example, Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani obtained his LL.B degree from Ahmadu Bello University, while Justice Misturat Bolaji-Yusuf obtained hers from Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife. It’s also worth noting that Justice Boloukuoromo Moses Ugo served as a High Court Judge for eight years before his appointment to Court of Appeal.
